" We have been shopping at Boathouse Farm Organic shop since it was a small farm diversification project in a shed with an honesty box in the farmyard - now it is a thriving dedicated shop on the Lewes road - poised to develop into something even bigger.

Although working full time we have always sought to buy as much food as posible from local shops - supporting local suppliers rather than being seduced into convenience and largely anonymised world of the supermarket. In a world dictated by big industry we made a decision to endeavour to remain close to our food - and Boathouse along with other small suppliers allow that.

Food shopping at Boathouse is a pleasure not a chore we have friendly banter with the Boathouse team and other customers, and every week I am helped to the car with my shopping.

We feel part of the 'Boathouse family' of staff and customers and we know we are buying and eating good , honest food - really something that sadly so many people are missing. Boathouse provides the mainstay of all our weekly shopping needs - reducing our reliance on supermarkets. If we want something special we ask for it to be ordered and we can collect at our convenience.

If you are reading this on their website all we can say is do make the effort to go to Boathouse or see them at the many farmers markets they attend - then you too may realise this is what food and shopping should be about.

Oh and I don't get any special reward for this, I am sure Derek and Robin will 'take the mickey' as they always do when they think I am late arriving on a Saturday morning to collect my weekly shop!"

"I have bought all my meat and poultry from Boathouse Organic Farm Shop for many years and so have other members of my family. We go there because we know we can get very much better meat, probably because all their animals are organically fed and humanely reared. And of course the carcasses are properly hung, which makes a real difference to the flavour. What's more I can get a full range of the offal - hearts, liver and so on that I particularly like. For the discerning cook, this shop is special. I wouldn't go anywhere else."
